“For this poster, I wanted to pay tribute to Saul Bass’ iconic work for Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. In 1978, Bass submitted several designs to Kubrick, utilizing a stippling technique with a bold yet minimalist typeface—one of these eventually became the film’s official poster. Inspired by these designs, I wanted to capture one of my favorite shots of the film, where Wendy Torrance locks Jack Torrance in the pantry and he’s seen talking to her through the door from an extremely low angle. Surrounding Jack on the walls and ceiling is the layout of the maze at the Overlook Hotel, emphasizing the feeling that he’s been mentally and physically trapped in the labyrinth of the supernatural.” - Dalton Frizzell
