Whats up, friends? Hope you’re well!

In The News

  • The big day finally arrived! The Oscar nominations are here and boy, oh boy, were there some surprises. The good? Great movies like Drive My Car, Worst Person in the World and Flee got more love than many expected. Lady Gaga’s Chef Boyardee drag did not earn her a nomination. On the other hand, Dune’s Denis Villeneuve was not nominated for best director. Nor were Ruth Negga or Caitriona Balfe. Will this year be the one where Lin Manuel Miranda gets his EGOT? Only time will tell!

  • In Max Max: Fury Road news, apparently we were robbed of a Love The Way You Lie reunion. In an except from Kyle Buchanan’s book on the production of Fury Road titled Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road',” the writer revealed that George Miller and casting director Ronna Kress were interested in Eminem and Rihanna (considered at different times with varying degrees of seriousness.

  • Finally, the mouse giveth and the mouse taketh away. Rita Ora was quick to announce that she would be part of the cast of the Beauty and the Beast prequel series. However not even three days later, co-star Josh Gad came out to let us know that we’ve been spared…for now. The series will not be moving forward.

What To Watch

  • This weekend there aretwo films opening in theatres. Number one is a remake of the classic Hercule Poirot mystery Murder on the Nile, starring a variety of people. One person you might not know is in this is cannibal and Tom Hardy spit-receptacle Armie Hammer. Also masterful English speaker Gal Gadot.

  • If you want something a little more romantic for you, or for you and your boo, may I recommend Marry Me. It’s a romantic comedy starring J.Lo! Remember those? It also stars sweet guy Owen Wilson and latino heartthrob Maluma.

Coming Soon

  • Full disclosure? I was a dinosaur kid. I mean I was also a comic book kid, and a board game kid, and a video game kid, etc. But I was undeniably a dinosaur kid. So no matter how much I’ve soured on this franchise, this trailer has grabbed me once again. Laura Dern! Dilophosaurus! Feathers! Feather? Yes, Feathers! Jurassic World Dominion opens in theatres June 10.

  • There are MULTIPLE projects around the grifting queen known as Elizabeth Holmes, former Theranos CEO and current convicted fraudster. This one stars Amanda Seyfried, of Mean Girls and Mamma Mia fame, and Naveen Andrews, of Lost fame. The series is coming to a Hulu near you.

  • I don’t have a lot of thoughts on Men (the movie, not the subset of humanity. I have many thoughts on men.) But it did make me want to watch Ex Machina again.
