AMP Highlights + Collectibles - Jan 23
Welcome to AMP Highlights + Collectibles, a short sum up of the best, vinyl, posters, stickers, and toys of pop culture released this past week.
This week we are highlighting a vinyl soundtrack, a poster commission of one of my favourite movies and another great interpretation of some classic Hollywood monsters.
Best of the Week - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Phantom City Creative
What can I say about this vinyl release, it’s incredible. The negative space, the piercing eye, it’s perfect. It encapsulates the embarrassment, terror and fury of the character of Carrie, and makes you wonder “oh no what is coming next.” It’s a fantastic piece and for our inaugural post, I am happy we could highlight a fellow Canadian duo.
Honourable Mention - Knives Out by Paul Mann
This beauty of a Knives Out poster was made from Layered Butter contributor Paul Mann. Paul’s work once again blends his classic style with a modern property that works beautifully. Based on the Murder of the Orient Express original one sheet this poster just screams whodunnit. It fits the style of the movie perfectly for those that have seen it and dare I say it better than the original one sheet.
Classic Hollywood Horror by Bottleneck Gallery
Finally for our last entry this week we are highlighting a couple releases from our friends at Bottleneck Gallery. These classic Hollywood monsters are sure to complete your horror collection. The Mummy by Peter Diamond and Kevin Wilson’s (Ape Meets Girl) Frankenstein. are both fantastic new pieces in that horror series. What I like about both of them is that neither are afraid to play with colour. While you might expect the Horror posters to be in black and white similar to the movies they represent these are both a fresh new take on classic properties and would scare and delight anyone with them on the wall.
